Principal’s Message

March 27, 2026

Dear Whiton Families,

It's hard to believe that spring break is here and I hope this time provides an opportunity for rest, connection, and a bit of fun for your family. While it’s important for students to recharge, there are also many simple and enjoyable ways to keep their minds active during the break.
Here are a few ideas you might consider:
  • Read together daily: Whether it’s a favorite book, a new series, or even magazines, reading helps maintain strong literacy skills.
  • Write for fun: Encourage your student to keep a journal, write a story, or even create a comic strip about their break.
  • Explore the outdoors: Take a nature walk, visit a park, or observe signs of spring. You can even turn it into a scavenger hunt!
  • Practice math in real life: Cooking, shopping, or planning a day trip are great ways to incorporate math skills naturally.
  • Get creative: Drawing, building, crafting, or creating something new helps foster imagination and problem-solving.
  • Play games as a family: Board games and puzzles are wonderful for building critical thinking and cooperation skills.
  • Visit a local library or museum: Many offer free or low-cost programs for students.
Most importantly, enjoy this time together. Unstructured play, family conversations, and shared experiences are just as valuable for your student’s growth.

Wishing you a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable spring break!
