Principal’s Message

March 6, 2026

Dear Whiton Families,

Celebrate Reading Week is always a special time in our school, and this year’s theme, “Reading Grows Our Hearts,” made it even more meaningful. Throughout the week, we focused on how a love of reading connects to the power of kindness. Stories help us build empathy, understand others, and inspire us to take part in our own acts of kindness.

Students enjoyed a variety of activities that highlighted both literacy and caring for others, and it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm for reading shine. We encourage you to continue the celebration at home by reading together and talking about the ways characters show kindness, courage, and compassion.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us nurture both strong readers and kind hearts. A special thank-you to our PTO for sponsoring the companion book for our theme and ensuring that every classroom received a copy. We wrapped up the week with an engaging Science Storytelling assembly, generously supported by the BEF. We are truly fortunate to be part of such a supportive school community that helps make these experiences so meaningful for our students.

We also took time to recognize students who consistently go above and beyond in demonstrating positive character traits. These students were honored as Whiton All-Stars during our Hoot & Holler assembly. They are:
