Principal’s Message
February 20, 2026
Dear Whiton Families,
Next week, our students will be dedicating time during the school day to participate in our Science Fair. We would like to share why this experience is such an important part of their learning and why we intentionally make time for it in our schedule.
Science education encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Through the Science Fair process, students ask questions, explore real-world problems, test ideas, and reflect on their results. This hands-on approach helps them move beyond simply learning scientific facts and instead experience how science works in action.
Participating in the Science Fair also strengthens important academic and life skills. Students practice research, organization, time management, and communication as they prepare and present their projects. They learn how to think independently, persevere through challenges, and take pride in their accomplishments. These skills support success not only in science, but across all subject areas.
Most importantly, the Science Fair fosters a love of learning. It gives students the opportunity to explore topics that genuinely interest them and to share their discoveries with others. When students feel ownership of their learning, their confidence and engagement grow.
We appreciate your continued support in encouraging your student’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. We look forward to celebrating our students’ creativity, hard work, and scientific thinking next week. All students will have the opportunity to visit the Science Fair during the school day, and families are warmly invited to join us for viewing after school.
Sincerely,
|
