Seeds to Salad Needs You!

3rd Grade Seeds to Salad Program Needs Volunteers
The 2018 Seeds to Salad Program is just around the corner for 3rd Grade Classes at Whiton Elementary School!

In the Seeds to Salad Program, children will learn firsthand how plants grow. Classes will plant, tend, and observe their own plots for an entire growing season in the Whiton School Courtyard and Outside Gardens. Teachers and students will work with Rutgers Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners from Somerset County to bring lettuce, radishes, onions, beets and other cool season salad vegetables from seed to the table.

WHO: We need at least 2 parent volunteers from each class each week. You do not have to commit to every week and we gladly welcome grandparents!
You will garden with your child, meet their friends, and have fun!

ABSOLUTELY NO GARDEN EXPERIENCE NEEDED! We also need additional volunteers for planting the garden in April and for the Harvest and Salad Extravaganza Days in June.

WHEN: Gardening Days will be on Tuesdays & Thursdays from April 3rd until June 14th.
