Principal’s Message
May 8, 2026
Dear Whiton Families,
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of caring for our mental and emotional well-being. Just like physical health, mental health plays a vital role in a student’s ability to learn, build relationships, and navigate daily experiences.
At school, we support students in developing skills such as recognizing emotions, managing stress, and building positive connections. These same skills can be reinforced at home in simple and meaningful ways. Here are a few ideas to support your student’s mental health:
- Encourage open conversations about feelings and emotions
- Maintain consistent routines, including healthy sleep habits
- Spend time outdoors and stay active
- Practice mindfulness or quiet breathing exercises
- Set aside time for creative activities like drawing, reading, or journaling
- Promote kindness and gratitude through small daily actions
By working together, we can help our students build strong, healthy habits that support both their emotional well-being and overall success. Here is a list of community resources.
Tomorrow is the Branchburg Fishing Derby! See below for details.

Wishing you an enjoyable weekend!
Sincerely,
|

THIRD GRADE FAMILIES

KINDERGARTEN 2026-2027 Reminder- Families of Incoming Kindergarten Students: We are excited to welcome you! To make sure your student has a spot, please let us know as soon as possible by starting the registration process.
If you—or someone you know—has a student entering kindergarten for the 2026–2027 school year, early registration is important. It ensures your student can participate in our Kindergarten Kickoff in May and helps us plan for the right number of classes to provide the best possible experience.
You do not need to have all your medical paperwork ready to begin. Starting the registration now secures your student’s place and allows us to plan effectively for the year ahead.
Don’t wait—register today!
LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS
The Whiton library is welcoming volunteers. This is a great opportunity to help with shelving books, assisting students with book checkouts, and guiding students in finding books on the shelves. Because initial training is needed, Ms. Gale is looking for anyone who is able to volunteer on a regular or semi-regular basis - Here is the sign up. Any questions, please email Ms. Gale - sgale@branchburg.k12.nj.us.
