Principal’s Message
October 31, 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy Halloween! Today wraps up an exciting week here at Whiton! We kicked things off with our Hoot & Holler assembly, where we recognized and celebrated our Whiton All-Stars (listed below). We also introduced a new initiative — “The Red Carpet Express.” Along with honoring our All-Stars, this recognition highlights the bus or van with the best behavior for the month. Students from that bus will get to walk the red carpet and board first during dismissal. It’s another fun way, much like our “Golden Spatula” at lunch, to encourage and celebrate positive behavior throughout our school.
A heartfelt thank-you to all of the families who came out to support our students during today's Halloween parade! It’s always such a special event, and we truly appreciate the excitement and enthusiasm from both students and adults. A big thank-you as well to our PTO Halloween helpers for making the classroom celebrations so special and memorable.
As a reminder, Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend, so don’t forget to turn your clocks back! With November now upon us, that also means it’s conference time. If you haven’t yet signed up for a conference with your student’s teacher, please do so soon — it’s a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the home-school partnership and celebrate your student’s progress. Please note the schedule for next week:
- Monday & Tuesday: Single-session days, with dismissal beginning at 1:15 PM. Buses will bring students home about 2.5 hours earlier than usual.
- Wednesday: No school for students (Conferences).
- Thursday & Friday: Schools closed for NJ Teacher Convention.
This season can bring a mix of emotions and needs within our community. Please remember that our Community Bulletin Board offers a variety of local resources for families who may need support.
Wishing you and your family a fun, safe, and relaxing weekend!

LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS
The Whiton library will be opening to volunteers beginning Nov. 10. This is a great opportunity to help with shelving books, assisting students with book checkouts, and guiding students in finding books on the shelves. Because initial training is needed, Ms. Gale is looking for anyone who is able to volunteer on a regular or semi-regular basis. Any questions, please email Ms. Gale - sgale@branchburg.k12.nj.us. We will be sharing the sign up very soon!
CAFETERIA VOLUNTEERS
Parents/guardians interested in volunteering in our lunch room should use this PTO sign up link here through December. Please make sure to read the very important information about volunteering located on the sign up.
SCHOOL SPIRITWEAR Great news! Our School Spirit wear can be purchased at anytime! The orders will be processed on the 1st and 15th. Please find the link to order here.
RE-TAKE PICTURE DAY
Absentees - Any student that was absent on picture day or newly enrolled after picture day will use the pre-pay code provided in the new email blast to place their order. This email blast will be provided to the school 2 weeks before retake day. The code provided will ONLY be for absentees or new enrollments. This allows you to take advantage of the same packages we provided for original day. Student needs a retake and did not previously place an order - At this time, parents will only be able to view their child's original day image online. Once retake day has been processed and the original image has been replaced with the re-take, parents may go online and place an order using the personal web passcode provided on the Last Chance to Order card. The Last Chance cards are sent to the school with the picture packages. Retaking an image and already placed an order - Students MUST bring in their complete original package and provide it to our photographer on retake day. We kindly ask parents to write any concerns on the FRONT of the envelope. After picture day, parents will receive a new full replacement package with their child's new image at no additional cost to them.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR/EDUCATIONAL SERVICES PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR
Each year, the New Jersey Department of Education honors outstanding educators through the Governor’s Educator of the Year Program. This prestigious recognition celebrates the dedication, innovation, and impact of the teachers and educational specialists who make a difference in the lives of our students every day.
We are proud to have so many incredible staff members who go above and beyond for our students—providing engaging instruction, creating supportive classroom environments, and nurturing social, emotional, and academic growth. Now is our opportunity to shine a light on their hard work and commitment!
We invite parents, guardians, students, and staff to participate by submitting a nomination for a deserving teacher or educational services professional. Your nominations help us recognize those who embody the spirit of our school community and who inspire excellence both inside and outside the classroom.
Taking a few minutes to complete the nomination form is a meaningful way to say thank you and to ensure our school’s exceptional educators receive the recognition they deserve.
Nominations are due by November 14. Click the Link below to nominate a staff member
